In December 2018, along with my colleagues, I was privileged to receive the first quarter Attain Way Achievement Award from my employer, Attain LLC for my substantial contributions to the OSHA-NIOSH Heat Safety Tool.

According to Attain:

The Attain Way Achievement Award recognizes employees for their outstanding service. This internal, quarterly, peer-nominated/peer-reviewed award program honors individuals who go above and beyond to demonstrate an exceptional commitment our core values, and make significant contributions to our clients, our business, and the communities in which we live and work.

This was certainly a team effort, and I am deeply grateful to Attain for their recognition.

The day the watchOS 2 version of Cthulhu vs. Your Mom Gold was released, Apple chose to feature it in the “Great Apps and Games for watchOS 2” section of the Apple Watch App Store. As of this writing, it is still being featured.

Cthulhu vs. Your Mom Gold was the realization of our goal to deliver a great gaming experience for the Apple watchOS platform. This was also the first app of ours to be localized into multiple languages (Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, UK English, US English).

This was also our first game to support Game Center achievements.

I’ve found the title and tag line of the game to be incredibly memorable. It always gets a laugh when I tell people the title, and surprisingly the humor translates to other languages. Also memorable is the promotional video I created that uses the amazing vocal talents of Ken Scott:

Spirit Story Box was the first iOS App released by our fledgling company, Streamside Software. I created it (with encouragement and advice from my wife Jill) in my spare time while working for Indiana University. We released it in early July, 2013.

On August 8th, it shot up in the App Store rankings reaching number 52 overall in the US, and number 4 overall in the UK, and it has been featured in the Huffington Post, USA Today Online, The Daily Mail, and other major media outlets.

It still ranks in the top 100 entertainment apps several times a year.

I started cartooning for my high school newspaper. I suppose this is the activity for which I am most remembered by my classmates.

This past year I rekindled my love of cartooning and created a Web Comic/Developer Blog called NSBliss which chronicles my life as an Apple developer.

I love creating logos for companies. I think what makes it so satisfying is that once a logo is finished, it kind of takes on a life of its own. It becomes an old friend that you run into in the strangest of places.

I remember walking through the Indianapolis International Airport and coming upon a Starmaster marine engine in a plexiglass case and thinking, “Oh my gosh! That’s my logo on that engine.” There it was, cast in steel!

The Teddy’s Burger Joint logo holds a special place in my heart, because I received a MacBook in return for my work on that project. I then used that MacBook to start a new business.

Filmmaking:

I have studied filmmaking and started a small studio in 2013 called Two Streams Films with my wife, Jill. I am currently on hiatus from my filmmaking projects but still love to film an occasional time-lapse or promotional video.

Also close to my heart is nature/landscape photography. I am continually amazed by the images I capture through my lens.
